The investigation into the death of Jeusselem Elieth Genes Vitola has taken a significant turn as her husband, Alvaro Jose Urbina Rojas, has been named a person of interest. This development follows the discovery of Vitola’s body inside a camp trailer at a storage facility in Draper, Utah, raising serious concerns about the circumstances surrounding her death.
Authorities began searching for Vitola on February 26 after she failed to show up for work. The couple, who had recently celebrated the opening of their food truck, Rica Arepa, had no prior history of domestic violence or serious medical issues, according to police reports. Their disappearance prompted an extensive investigation that ultimately led to the tragic discovery of her body.
As the investigation unfolded, police identified Urbina Rojas as a person of interest. His vehicle, a 2005 gray Toyota Sequoia with a Utah license plate T409YB, was captured on surveillance cameras in multiple locations after the couple went missing. This evidence has raised questions about his whereabouts and involvement in the case.
In a separate incident, a man attacked a woman outside a bar in Pasadena on January 24, further complicating the narrative surrounding Urbina Rojas. The suspect in this attack is believed to have been at the bar with someone matching his description, although no one involved in the Pasadena attack has been identified. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the circumstances leading up to this incident.
Urbina Rojas, aged 57 and standing at 5’9″ and weighing 193 pounds, is currently believed to be in California. Police Chief Andrew Burton has stated, “We are alerting local authorities in California,” indicating the urgency of locating him for questioning. The case has now been reclassified as a homicide investigation, intensifying the search for answers.
The couple, who immigrated to Utah from Venezuela about a decade ago, were well-known within their local Venezuelan community. Friends and family have expressed shock and disbelief at the turn of events, with one acquaintance, Fernando Colmenares, noting, “Things looked very normal” before the couple’s disappearance.
The Medical Examiner’s office has been notified, and the trailer where Vitola was found has been processed as a crime scene. As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Pasadena police.
