“This is to notify you of a slight adjustment to the arrival scheduled time, particularly for the first session, which is now 7:00 a.m. as against the earlier published 6:30 a.m.” This announcement from JAMB marks a significant change in the schedule for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The adjustment comes as JAMB prepares for the examination, which will take place from April 16 to April 25, 2026. More than two million candidates are expected to participate in this crucial assessment, which is essential for admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions.

The first session of the UTME will now commence at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 10:30 a.m.. This change aims to alleviate early morning travel challenges faced by candidates and their parents, as highlighted in the feedback received.

Following the adjustment, candidates will not need to reprint their examination slips, ensuring a smoother transition to the new schedule. JAMB has also confirmed that four sessions will be conducted daily from Monday to Thursday, with the second session starting at 11:00 a.m. and ending at 1:00 p.m..

The third session will run from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and the final session of the day is scheduled from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.. On Fridays, only three active sessions will be held, with the third session marked as reserved.

JAMB has encouraged candidates to check their notification slips carefully for full details of their exam schedule, centre, and other relevant instructions. “Candidates are further encouraged to check their notification slips carefully for full details of their exam schedule, centre, and other relevant instructions,” JAMB reiterated.

This adjustment reflects JAMB’s commitment to improving the examination experience for candidates, ensuring that logistical challenges do not hinder their performance. As the examination dates approach, candidates are advised to stay informed and prepared.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding any further changes or updates to the examination process as the date approaches. Candidates are urged to remain vigilant for any announcements from JAMB.
