Taiwo Adegbodu, one half of the famous gospel music pair known as the Adegbodu Twins, has sadly passed away.

The announcement of Taiwo’s passing came in the early hours of Sunday, though the reason for death is still not known.

Taiwo, along with his twin brother Kehinde, formed the melodious heart of the ensemble, gaining recognition not only for their music but also for the strong emblem of togetherness they embodied.

The Adegbodu twins, hailing from Oyo, devoted themselves to gospel music and became key figures in the Yoruba gospel community. Their rise to fame started with the launch of their first album ‘Faratimi (Lean on Me)’ in 1999. This project achieved remarkable success, positioning them as essential new talents in the realm of contemporary Christian music.

Throughout the years, the Adegbodu Twins have established a strong reputation for their spiritually uplifting and culturally significant music. They gained recognition in homes all over Nigeria, celebrated for an extensive collection of hit songs that served as the backdrop for worship and contemplation for numerous fans.

Their most well-known tracks feature ‘Shower Your Blessing,’ ‘Hallelujah,’ ‘God Concert,’ ‘Bojuwomi,’ ‘Emi Mimo,’ ‘Igbagbo Dun,’ ‘Ma Beru,’ and ‘Adura Mi Gba.’

Messages of admiration have flooded in from various sectors of the creative field.

Renowned actor Muyiwa Ademola took to Instagram to share his sorrow, mentioning that the news had “struck deeply.” He referred to Taiwo as one of the most talented artists he had ever encountered.

“It is truly heartbreaking. This resonates deeply. One of the most gifted individuals I have ever known left this life early this morning. I will love you forever, dear brother. This brings me to my knees. Safe travels, Taiwo Adegbodu,” he expressed.

In his homage, Seun Oloketuyi, the creator of the BON Awards, emphasized the artist’s “kind and influential demeanor.”

Oloketuyi recognized the profound emptiness created for the family, particularly for Kehinde. He offered heartfelt prayers for solace and strength for those who are mourning.

“Taiwo was not just a twin; he embodied light, voice, and a presence that infused warmth and resilience into the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him. As one half of the Adegbodu twins, Taiwo shared a remarkable connection that represented unity, affection, and an unbreakable bond. Today, that connection feels distinctly changed, and the emptiness left in its wake is immense,” he expressed.

“The loss of a twin transcends the mere absence of a sibling; it signifies the end of a lifelong bond — a reflection of shared memories, aspirations, and experiences. The departure of Taiwo is profoundly sorrowful, affecting not just his family but also friends, colleagues, and everyone who cherished the unique bond represented by the Adegbodu twins.

Promo

“While Taiwo’s journey has reached its conclusion, the influence he had will endure. His generosity, his essence, his joy, and the imprint he left on the lives of those around him will resonate in our memories. In times like these, language often proves inadequate, yet we find solace in knowing that his existence, no matter its duration, was significant and valued.”

“May the Almighty provide strength and solace to his twin sibling, the entire Adegbodu family, and all those mourning this profound loss. May Taiwo’s spirit find eternal peace, and may his memory always be a source of blessing.”
